Carnival Cruise Afternoon Tea: A Hidden Gem You Don’t Want to Miss

One of the best little-known experiences on a Carnival cruise is the delightful afternoon tea. It’s one of those hidden gems that many first-time cruisers (and even seasoned ones) don’t always know about. But trust me—it’s worth seeking out and is one of my favorite parts of a cruise 🙂

Picture this: you’re on a sea day, having spent the morning lounging by the pool, sipping a frozen cocktail, or maybe exploring one of the ship’s many activities. The afternoon rolls around, and you’re looking for something a little more refined—a touch of elegance amidst the fun and festivity. That’s where afternoon tea comes in.

Not every Carnival ship offers this experience, and its availability depends on the length of your sailing. Typically, it’s held on sea days, giving you the perfect excuse to take a break from the sun and indulge in something special. If you’re on a shorter itinerary, it might not be offered at all, so be sure to check your Fun Times schedule on the Hub or ask a crew member.

Afternoon tea on Carnival is a casual yet charming affair. You’ll be seated in a dining room with white tablecloths, soft music playing in the background, and servers bringing out tiered trays filled with an assortment of treats. Think delicate finger sandwiches, flaky scones with clotted cream and jam, and an array of mini pastries that are almost too pretty to eat. Almost.

Of course, the tea selection varies, but you can typically expect a variety of classic choices, from English Breakfast to herbal blends. If you’re not a tea drinker, don’t worry, coffee is usually available as well!

While it might not be as extravagant as afternoon tea on a luxury cruise line, there’s something charming about this experience on Carnival. It’s a chance to slow down, chat with friends or family, and enjoy a moment of indulgence before diving back into the lively atmosphere of the ship. Plus, it’s complimentary!

If you’re sailing on a Carnival ship that offers afternoon tea, I highly recommend carving out the time for it. It’s a simple yet memorable experience! Just be sure to get there early, there is usually limited seating and it typically starts at 3pm.
