Disney has brought quite a few new and exciting attractions throughout the past two years. Here are some highlights of me and my family’s recent trip to Florida (which proved I wasn’t fully traumatized after working there).
New Sites & Spots!
Seeing the Moana activity area was delightful, as it was under construction during my DCP! The area contained various water activities and games for guests to engage with.

Woody’s Backyard BBQ in Disney’s Hollywood Studios
This new all-you-can-eat thematic restaurant was introduced to Hollywood Studios a little over a year ago and immerses you into the perspective of one of Andy’s toys. Unfortunately, it opened right after my DCP ended back in January 2023, but I finally got to give this place a whirl 🙂
Woody’s Backyard BBQ depletes one table-service credit on the Disney Dining Plan and offers plenty of tasty food options for all palettes. As an girly with gluten allergy, dining in restaurants can be tricky as a result of the validity of wheat-free options, in addition to if they actually taste edible.
In my experience, Disney is very inclusive with those who have food allergies or plant-based diets. The restaurant does offer gluten-free cheddar biscuits and were not too dry in comparison to other gluten-free breads I’ve had! Usually GF bread tastes like what I’d surmise how a dry sponge tastes, but I was excited about this one! During my DCP I had the opportunity to try quite a few of the GF options around property and the company genuinely takes the initiative to make sure everyone is safe 🙂

Disney’s Boardwalk Inn
Back in July, we stayed at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, a resort that captures the charm of early 20th-century Atlantic City boardwalks. The hotel’s decor, featuring dark woods and a mix of jewel tones and paler hues, evokes a nostalgic seaside ambiance.
The hotel offered a good range of food options, but I wish they had a quick-service spot with more than just small snacks like muffins and bagels. It rained the only day we had free time to explore the resort, but we made the most of it by indulging in ice cream at their retro-style ice cream parlor. It was a cozy spot, and the nostalgic vibe paired perfectly with the sweet treats.
Dining Options
Disney’s BoardWalk Inn offers a variety of dining options that capture the charm of a classic boardwalk experience. Here are some notable food locations on the property:
An upscale seafood restaurant offering a sophisticated dining experience with a focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients.
An Italian restaurant serving traditional dishes, including handmade pasta and wood-fired pizzas, in a warm and inviting atmosphere.
A quick-service spot offering a variety of sandwiches, pastries, and beverages, perfect for a casual meal or snack.
A retro-style ice cream parlor serving sundaes, cones, and other frozen treats, ideal for satisfying your sweet tooth.
A new, charming café offering specialty coffees, teas, and light bites in a whimsical setting.
A magic-themed lounge offering a variety of cocktails and small bites in a mysterious and enchanting atmosphere.
A cozy lounge reminiscent of a 1930s sitting room, serving pastries and coffee in the morning and cocktails in the evening.
A spot offering hand-dipped corn dogs with unique twists, bringing a classic fairground treat to the BoardWalk.
A kiosk serving margaritas, pretzels, and other snacks, perfect for a quick refreshment as you stroll along the BoardWalk.
These diverse dining options contribute to the lively and nostalgic atmosphere of Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, providing guests with a variety of culinary experiences reminiscent of a classic seaside boardwalk.
Other Notes and Amenities
Disney’s BoardWalk Inn offers a variety of amenities that capture the charm of early 20th-century coastal boardwalks. Guests can enjoy the Luna Park Pool, featuring the 200-foot Keister Coaster Water Slide, or relax at the quieter leisure pools when not at the parks. The Muscles & Bustles Health Club provides a fully equipped fitness center, and evenings come alive with street performers, carnival games, and dancing at the Atlantic Dance Hall (Which I believe is open again?) Complimentary transportation via boats or buses makes exploring the parks convenient, while in-room amenities like Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, coffee makers, and mini-fridges ensure a comfortable stay. Business services and additional recreational activities complete the experience, making it a vibrant and enjoyable destination. I can only dream of going on a business trip at such commodities!
Overall Thoughts
While finding the rooms was a bit tricky, the overall experience was wonderful. I think I spent about an hour trying to locate our room LOL, the hallways and buildings are not easy to differentiate. Being within walking distance to Epcot and Hollywood Studios was also very convenient and a great way to get some steps in. The walk was scenic and botanical, with paths paved around the watercraft route! (You can also hop on the boats, there is a nearby dock right outside the boardwalk). I wouldn’t say it was my favorite resort that I’ve ever stayed at (Animal Kingdom Lodge forever has my heart). That being said, I think it’s worth trying out if you’re looking for a little bit of a splurge resort. The playful, old-school theme made the resort a unique and magical part of our Disney adventure, and we’re glad we stayed there.
