The Fairmont Hotel in Georgetown, D.C. hosts a lovely Cherry Blossom themed Afternoon Tea to celebrate the renowned annual festival. My two friends and I shared a special treat at this beautiful hotel while traveling for the Cherry Blossom festival. If you’re looking for a unique experience to add to your D.C. bucket list, this experience is a great option to add!

Choosing one Cherry Blossom Afternoon Tea experience in D.C. can be difficult because of the multifarious offerings throughout the city (especially if you’re as indecisive as me). After discovering Fairmont’s tea special on Instagram, me + my girls reserved a spot and ended up having a memorable spring brunch! The base cost of the experience is $95 per person (excluding gratuity), and includes a flute of champagne. If you are interested in additional cocktails, the hotel offers two Cherry Blossom themed drinks; one with sake and the other with Roku gin. We were seated right away and our servers were very attentive! Parking was a tad bit confusing as a result of the garages being closed on Saturdays, but we easily found street parking close by.

Furnished with comfortable seating and overlooking the outdoor garden patio of the resort, the ambiance of the tea felt so luxurious and quaint. Tea selections were unique and delicious. My one friend and I ordered Earl Gray, and my sister enjoyed the safari masala chai. After reviewing multiple other menus of D.C. Cherry Blossom Teas, Fairmont’s was distinctive and we collectively agreed that all three tiers were delicious.

As a picky eater, it can be toilsome for me to find foods, particularly specialty items (aka anything aside from chicken nuggets and fruit), that I can enjoy. Each sandwich, scone, and dessert were delightful and the portions were perfect. Our favorite selections were the prosciutto blueberry feta sandwiches and the cherry rose scones. The cucumber and sunflower cream on multigrain bread ranked a close second. The desserts were the most beautiful, meticulously crafted treats I’ve ever seen and were even topped with edible paper shaped cherry blossoms. The Fairmont served a perfect amount of food and each person was able to try one of each treat. 

Overall, we loved this afternoon tea experience and it is a wonderful choice to accompany our D.C. trip to the Cherry Blossom festival. Although the cost is a bit high, we were all in congruence that the tea was 100% worth the price. The exceptional service and detail incorporated into creating this special event for D.C’s annual event was evident through this experience. I would go to Fairmont again for next year’s festival in a heartbeat! This experience is such a cute springtime delicacy for you and your girlfriends. Go out there and treat yourself, you deserve it!
