I always say, “Magic happens on the Magic.” This ship is one of my favorites, it’s the perfect size. Not too big that the ship is difficult to navigate, but not too small that it feels cramped and the same people circulate the same spaces.
My family has gone on the Magic twice, once out of Port Canaveral, Florida and once out of Norfolk, VA. Embarkation out of VA was a bit more toilsome than FL. You have to take a shuttle to the port from the parking lot and when it’s hot as hell in an unpredictably long line, it can make the process a little more stressful. However, as long as you bring lots of water and give your party enough time, everything should run smoothly 🙂

The Carnival Magic features two distinct casino bars:
- Smoking Casino Bar: This area is designed for guests who wish to enjoy gaming and drinks in a smoking-friendly environment.
- Non-Smoking Casino Bar: Adjacent to the smoking section, this bar offers a similar experience without the presence of smoke.
Both bars are adorned with purple walls covered in glitter, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere. The magician-themed decor adds a touch of whimsy, enhancing the overall ambiance. Located just off the casino floor, these bars serve a variety of cocktails, beers, and wines, making them ideal spots to celebrate with fellow travelers.
The bartenders, including Thea (wherever you are in the world, I miss you), are known for their exceptional service, ensuring guests have a memorable experience while enjoying the lively environment.

The event is held a cozy setting with soft music playing in the background, usually in the main dining room of the ship. Carnival Quest
My first Carnival Quest was on the Magic, a memory I can’t say I’ll ever forget. It was late at night, adults only, and the energy in the room was contagious. The game started around 11 p.m., and by then, the whole cruise felt like it was in on the fun.
Here’s how it went down:
- You’re split into teams, often with people you’ve just met, which makes it super easy to break the ice. The first tasks were simple enough, like finding a tie or a sock with a hole, but they quickly escalated into outrageous and even spicy challenges.
- As the game went on, the tasks got wilder. I was laughing so hard watching people put on lipstick or act out random skits. There’s no way you can stay serious for long. It’s actually kind of funny how serious and determined each team gets.
- Even if you’re not participating, it’s still a blast to watch. The energy is so high that you’ll be laughing right along with everyone else.
What made Carnival Quest stand out was how unpredictable it was. The tasks vary from cruise to cruise, and the cruise director knows exactly how to keep things lively. Sure, it can get a little wild (and even a bit risquĂ©), but that’s what makes it unforgettable.
And it’s really not as intimidating as you think it is, lol. Not every ship offers Carnival Quest, though, it’s usually available on longer sailings, depending on how many days you’re cruising. But if you’re lucky enough to catch it, definitely jump in. It’s a night you won’t forget! AND – Winners are incentivized with a bottle of champagne 🙂
Swimming with Stingrays at Half Moon Cay
Get up close and personal with the graceful southern stingrays of Half Moon Cay in this unforgettable, hands-on experience. Steakhouse
Going to the steakhouse on Carnival ships is not a “must do” for me, but me and my family decided to give it a go the second time we were on the Magic. There is an additional cost, and I did think it was worth it! The food is delicious and there is a distinct difference in the dining room food versus the steakhouse.
