Niagara Falls

Canada welcomed us with the thunderous roar of Niagara Falls, a sight so powerful that I could feel the mist on my skin long before reaching the edge. Standing at the railing, I watched as millions of gallons of water plunged over the cliffs, creating a constant, mesmerizing rush (and even seeing a rainbow gleam across the water!) The sheer force of nature was humbling, making me pause to take it all in.

After admiring the falls, we wandered over to the Niagara Parkway and Clifton Hill Boardwalk, a lively area bursting with neon lights, quirky attractions, and the scent of sugary treats wafting from nearby shops. It felt like a mini amusement park, with a mix of classic tourist stops and fun, over-the-top experiences. We strolled past haunted houses, wax museums, and souvenir shops before grabbing a snack and enjoying the buzzing energy of the strip. I also had my first legal drink here because I was 19 when my family visited 😉

One of the most peaceful highlights of our trip was the Butterfly Conservatory, a tropical oasis filled with thousands of fluttering butterflies. Stepping inside felt like entering another world—lush greenery, trickling waterfalls, and vibrant wings dancing through the air. The butterflies landed gently on our shoulders, unbothered by our presence, as if welcoming us into their little paradise. It was a stark contrast to the power of the falls, but just as magical in its own way.

Right down the road, we visited Bird Kingdom, the world’s largest free-flying indoor aviary. Walking through the multi-level rainforest setting, we were surrounded by colorful exotic birds soaring overhead and perching just within arm’s reach. Some birds eyed us curiously, while others chirped and fluttered through the lush environment.

The highlight was the Lorikeet Landing, where we had the chance to feed the playful, rainbow-colored lorikeets as they gently landed on our arms. It was a truly immersive experience, bringing us up close with some of nature’s most beautiful creatures.

Note – Parking was a nightmare, so I’d suggest going early to secure a spot!

My Tips for Visiting Niagara Falls & Nearby Attractions:

✅ Niagara Falls – Visit early in the morning or at night to avoid crowds. The falls are especially stunning when lit up after dark!
✅ Boardwalk/Clifton Hill – Bring small bills or a credit card, as many attractions and snack vendors are cash-friendly. Expect tourist prices but plenty of fun!
✅ Butterfly Conservatory – Wear bright colors if you want butterflies to land on you! It’s also warm and humid inside, so dress accordingly.
✅ Bird Kingdom – If you want to feed the lorikeets, purchase nectar cups at the entrance. Be ready for them to land on you!

From the raw power of the falls to the delicate beauty of butterflies and birds, Niagara Falls offered a mix of adventure, nature, and unforgettable moments.
